Hayley Levey

I am a South African-qualified attorney with international experience spanning data, IP, tech, general commercial and start-up law. Certified as a CIPP/E and CIPM, I also provide a professional understanding of data regulations, (predominantly, EU GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and Southern Africa regional laws).

After starting my career at a prominent mid-sized South African law firm, where I progressed to Senior Associate, I transitioned into consulting to exercise my skills beyond mere traditional legal delivery services. Along the way, I co-founded a GRC-focused e-commerce startup, combining my enjoyment of creative knowledge sharing with a strategic entrepreneurial initiative.

In my role at Lawbox, I advise on data, technology, and general commercial matters. I am part of a power-house team successfully guiding clients, including tech founders, SMEs and seasoned corporate executives. We provide practical human-centred advice for our clients to navigate complex legal and business challenges, empowering them to steer their businesses effectively. Beyond advisory services, I enjoy contributing to BD and operations.

Outside of work, I’m a curious introvert. You’ll often find me being active outdoors, or enjoying music and deep conversations, occasionally punctuated with a dose of awkward social banter.
