nature governance and nature as a stakeholder

Giving nature a voice in business decisions

There has been a recent upsurge in organisations wanting to provide a role for Nature within a company’s governance structure (Patagonia and Toneys Chocoloney are probably the best-known models).

This can be through varying levels of commitment, including changes to company articles, public reporting, and appointing external advisors, through to appointing a representative/director for Nature to the Board, or even setting up Nature as the owner/shareholder.

The www.earthlawcentre.org has created a world-first Toolkit on these options, and Lawbox has collaborated on a new Executive Summary as well as appointing one of the first Director for Nature/Nature Guardians in the world to Better Business Network and Better Not Stop (currently our very own Graham Hansen).
